Maths Champions Hit the Jackpot

Today, Blue Mountains Day Tours had the privilege of hosting a group of 16 brilliant minds from around the globe, all attending the International Congress on Mathematical Education in Sydney. This prestigious event, often dubbed the “Olympics of Maths,” gathers the best and brightest in the field every four years. They told us during their lunch in Springwood that this is the 15th Conference – so by our maths (we might have to check this one with our guests), that means this event has been going for 60 years. We were honoured to be chosen to showcase the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains to such a distinguished group.

Chapo met up with this All-American group in Springwood and had a wonderful time teaching them how to make the sounds of our native Kookaburra. Watch the Chapo and the group having real FUN on our tour here.

With Amy as their guide, these mathematical maestros embarked on a day filled with awe-inspiring sights and fascinating conversations. They explored the iconic Three Sisters, gazed upon the breathtaking Jamison Valley, and marvelled at the natural wonders of Scenic World.

And, boy did they hit the jackpot at Scenic World! The weather couldn’t have been more perfect, painting the landscape with vibrant colours and providing an ideal backdrop for one of our most stunning group photos of the year (see below).

It’s always fascinating to meet such diverse groups of travellers on our Blue Mountains Day Tours, and this group of mathematicians certainly added a unique flavour to the day. Their enthusiasm for both the mathematical world and the natural wonders of Australia was contagious!

So, cheers to maths, to exploring new horizons, and to creating unforgettable memories in the Blue Mountains! Whether you’re a maths whiz, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for an extraordinary adventure, Blue Mountains Day Tours is your gateway to the heart of Australia.

Join us on a Blue Mountains Day Tour and experience the beauty that captivated these brilliant minds. Who knows, you might even discover a mathematical equation hidden in the patterns of the eucalyptus leaves!
