Catch me if you can!

On our Blue Mountains Day Tours we tell the stories about Australia but we often say ‘the greatest stories are on the bus’.

Meet Jeannie Rice from the United States who at 77 holds three world running records for the fastest woman in the age category 75-79. Jeannie began running at 35 to lose weight gained on a vacation back in her native South Korea. She was inspired to take up marathon running by Joan Benoit’s gold medal performance at the 1984 Olympics. She began with the Cleveland Marathon in 1983, running a 3:45.

Fast forward here she is in Sydney and now the Blue Mountains. She’s run 135 marathons and has now completed all 7 majors around the world and absolutely dominated the Sydney Marathon in a time of 3 hours 37 minutes. By 2016 she had completed 1,000 races and started claiming world records from aged 70. As of this year she holds the world record in the 1,500m, 10 and 5 kilometre distances.

Jeannie is one of the reasons we love what we do at Blue Mountains Day Tours. Our business will always be about authenticity and people. She especially loved the Three Sisters and the worlds steepest railway at Scenic World.

Thanks for choosing our tour Jeannie and more importantly thanks for visiting Australia
